Redeemer's Newsletter Archive Redeemer began publishing a monthly newsletter for its members in 1922 during the tenure of Pastor Fred Schumacher. It was known originally as "The Monthly Sheet," and then "The Louisville Lutheran." In the 1930s, the newsletter, by then called the "Parish Paper," went from monthly to weekly publication though the 1940s before going back to monthly. Many of these early issues have survived, buried in Redeemer's archives. They will presented here in PDF form, alongside more recent newsletters, as a preservation effort. They represent an interesting first hand account of the church's history, it's members, and a glimpse into life during their time period. Please note that most of the early newsletters are bound, and the earliest ones (now 90 years old) are very brittle. With that in mind, plus the consideration of time, it has been necessary to photograph them rather than scan, and so they are not as high quality as more recent issues. Some text may be lost, distorted, washed out, and/or blurred. ***Note: The scanning/photographing process is ongoing. As of August, 2012, most of the surviving copies of the newsletters through 1989 have been photographed, and 1990-1991 have been scanned. These will be edited and posted as time allows. This is very a time/labor intensive process, and so a timetable for completion cannot be readily given. ***Are you having trouble viewing the newsletters? Click here for help. |
